This HiGuitarsUK Kingfisher electric baritone ukulele is handcrafted from quality materials and components in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire.

This is a one-off variation of the Kingfisher model. The very noticeable book matched flamed ash facing is countered by a nicely figured spalted elm thru-neck (new for this variation) and colour balanced sapele mahogany wings. The woods used share colour tones so that visually everything ties together nicely. These combine with the vintage influenced styling, gloss & satin finish and quality chromed to give a classy vintage yet modern vibe. Add to this two hot HiGuitarsUK pickups, with a coil-tap switch tapping these for an additional set of sounds, and this is a great looking and great sounding instrument.

At 36mm the nut width is 1mm wider than standard, giving a little more finger space with a D to E string spacing of 28mm.

The scale length is a slightly extended 20" (507mm) which will work well with the top 4 strings from a set of D'Addario EJ21 electric guitar 12s with a wound 3rd, tuned D-G-B-E with a low D. The gauges used are also easily individually purchasable online via eBay, etc.

Body: Two matched sapele mahogany wings, sandwiching a spalted elm neck block. 4mm thick flamed white ash facing. Vintage gloss top (a more subtle shine than hi-gloss) with thin semi open grain satin applied to the back and sides.

Neck: Spalted elm with a multi-coat Danish oil finish. The neck is of 3-piece construction, for long term stability, with a black ebony centre strip. Adjustment free low profile carbon fibre neck rod.

Fretboard: Hyedua with 7mm yellow-white shell fretboard dots, to tie in with the facing and scratchplate. Fretted with high grade hard American fret wire for longer fret life.

Electrics: In standard mode the pickups work as humbuckers across the 3 switch positions. Engage the coil-tap switch and both pickups enter single coil mode, with a thinner brighter sound across the 3 standard switch positions.
