Gloss Open Grain Finish Over Sapele Mahogany Body And Thru-Neck.

Like all HiGuitarsUK instruments, this Raindrop electric baritone ukulele is handcrafted from quality materials and components in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire.

The finish of this baritone is a departure from much of Rob’s work, utilizing a thin opaque, open grain gloss finish which allows the texture of the wood to partially show. On this example the finish of the top has a few small areas, visible when looked at with light in the right direction, which look like very light fingerprints in the surface. These are actually formed from fine bubbles in the finish (see the last few photos). There are also some small individual bubbles in the paintwork around these. Because of these this instrument is being offered at a good discount from the usual £825 (Please note that the protective film on the scratchplate has lifted near some of its edges and this has no cosmetic issues).

A well balanced Tonerider ‘Hot Classics’ tele’ style pickup is connected through quality ‘Alpha’ tone and volume pot’s, to a high quality output jack. An all steel bridge utilizes through-body stringing, for easy string loading, while the sturdy stainless steel bridge saddles help produce a balanced, well sustained tone. Neck-thru-body construction gives more direct vibration transmission than a glued in or bolt-on neck and a there are no fussy neck screws. The vintage influenced styling and quality chromed hardware combine to give a classy vintage yet modern vibe.

The scale length is a slightly extended 20" (507mm) which will work well with the top 4 strings from a set of electric guitar 12s, tuned D-G-B-E with a low D. A suitable set of D'Addario strings with a wound 3rd is fitted at present.

Body: Sapele mahogany centre section with sapele wings.

Neck: Single piece sapele mahogany thru-neck, with adjustment free carbon fibre neck rod.

Fretboard: Hyedua with high grade 7mm white mop shell fretboard dots and white 2mm side dots. Fretted with high grade hard American fretwire for longer fret life, with Rob’s usual very high standard of fretwork.
