Like all HiGuitarsUK instruments this Merlin electric soprano ukulele is handcrafted from quality materials and components in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire.

The classic combination of a mahogany body and set neck balanced with DiMarzio mini humbucker pickup helps create a great sounding instrument. While the vintage influenced styling, satin finish and quality chromed hardware combine to give a classy vintage yet modern vibe.

A extra-long headstock taper avoids the common uke' problem, for guitarists crossing over, of the headstock hindering guitar style fingerings. While at the body end, the cutaway and reduced neck heel ease higher fret access. The wider body and deep body contour improve playing position ergonomics.

The scale length is a slightly extended 354mm scale which works particularly well with the middle 4 strings from a set of electric 9s, tuned G-C-E-A with the 0.011 gauge B string tuned to A (similar to the highest 4 strings of a guitar transposed upwards). This is also a common mandolin scale length allowing electric mandolin strings to be used for standard mandolin tuning, as with the 60's/70's Fender 4 string electric mandolins. So this could be thought of as two instruments in one - but not both at the same time.

Body: Satin lacquer finished sapele mahogany. Extra deep - 42mm

Neck: Maple neck with sapele mahogany centre strip. Adjustment free carbon fibre reinforced.

Fingerboard: Hyedua with high grade 6mm abalone shell fretboard dots and slightly oversize white side dots (for better visibility). Fretted with hard American fretwire.
