This HiGuitarsUK Steel String Acoustic ukulele is handcrafted from quality materials and components in Nidderdale, North Yorkshire, UK.

Although this uke has a box shaped body it is no cigar box instrument. Instead it is built from all solid timbers. When played with a thin nylon guitar pick the sound output is louder than you would expect from an instrument this size. Much louder than a nylon/synthetic strung soprano uke. For less volume fingers can be used to strum or finger pick. The sound is somewhere between a uke/banjo/mandolin.

The scale length is 345mm which will work best with the top 4 strings from a set of acoustic guitar 11s. This is the only string gauge recommended since it is the one which the build was calibrated for. It is tuned G-C-E-A with a low G. A set of D'Addario strings with a wound 3rd is fitted at present.

This uke is probably more suitable for an experienced player with established fretting and strumming/picking skills and who is at home on a Soprano sized neck. Much better with a thin nylon pick than one made from leather or felt.

Body: Solid walnut back and sides with solid spruce top. Hyedua wood binding to the top

Fretboard: Hyedua with 6mm mop shell fretboard dots and slightly oversize white side dots. Fretted with hard American fret wire for durability
